Productivity Debt

Every day brings with it a fresh start. You re-enter time’s continuum and you begin anew. Today keep that sense of freshness alive for a moment.

Many people seems to live like they are in a productivity debt, which they struggle to pay off through the day, in hopes of reaching a zero balance by the time sun sets.

Today, give yourself some time be alive. Take a shower and relax under the flowing water. See the steam rising up, feel its warmth on your skin, hear the sound it makes when it drops. If you’ve already taken a shower, then look outside. Notice the vibrant colors of the trees and birds, hear the sounds of wind and leaves. Feel a deep sense of gratitude that you exist. You are here and how lucky you are to be born. Notice something you haven’t noticed before. Does it have a shape? Picture it in your minds eye noticing its intricate details.

After you’ve done that begin your day on a zero balance. Keep a done list by your side. Jot down the things you’ve done throughout the day. When evening comes congratulate yourself that you’re a hard worker who gets things done. Chances are you’re not giving yourself enough credit for your everyday accomplishments. This undercurrent turns into an undertow and reduces your vitality. So it’s important to congratulate yourself for even the tiniest acts.

Remember that you have nothing to prove. You are already good enough and you are not filling a deficit, you are moving your life forward with a blank slate.
